blue | Setting The Barre

Each on occasion, a ballet comes alongside that’s simply…particular. Enter Trey McIntyre‘s Blue Till June.

This ballet ticks all the packing containers I didn’t know have been empty. Set to the music of Etta James, Blue Till June has bought soul. It’s bluesy and narrative however not cumbersome, technical however completely unpretentious. It swings- the music, the motion, the temper. An ensemble piece, it highlights every dancer in a means that feels enjoyable and collaborative, like every considered one of us is a necessary puzzle piece, revealing parts of plot for the viewers to untangle.
